Description

A crispy golden baguette filled with savory minced beef and onion omelette, layered with creamy melted cheese and toasted to perfection. This Southeast Asian street food favorite is hearty, comforting, and packed with bold flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large baguette, about 12 inches long
  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic until fully browned. Season with salt and black pepper. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with the eggs and stir until evenly incorporated.
  4. Slice the baguette lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  5. Spread mayonnaise and chili sauce evenly inside the bread.
  6. Pour the beef and egg mixture evenly into the baguette and sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.
  7. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet over medium heat.
  8. Place the filled baguette into the skillet and cook until the egg sets and the bottom becomes golden brown.
  9. Carefully flip the sandwich, adding the remaining butter as needed, and cook until the other side is crisp and the cheese is fully melted.
  10. Remove from heat, let rest for 1 minute, slice into portions, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cook the beef mixture until excess moisture evaporates to prevent soggy bread.
  • Use medium heat to ensure the bread crisps without burning.
  • Let the sandwich rest briefly before slicing to keep the filling intact.
