- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup dried cranberries, chopped
- 3/4 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
- Add warm milk and 2 eggs. Mix until combined.
- Knead in 1/2 cup softened butter until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours until doubled.
- In a bowl, mix chopped dried cranberries, chopped pistachios, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons softened butter, and orange zest.
- Roll dough into a 12 by 16 inch rectangle.
- Spread filling evenly over dough.
- Roll tightly into a log and slice lengthwise in half.
- Twist the two halves together with cut sides facing up and shape into a wreath.
- Place in a greased 9 inch round pan, cover, and let rise 30 to 45 minutes.
- Whisk 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush over dough.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
- Let dough rise fully for best texture.
- Chill slightly before shaping if sticky.
- Do not overbake.
- Store in airtight container up to 3 days.
