Ingredients
Scale
- Ingredients for the Crisp Fry Base:
- 1 bag (28–32 oz) frozen crinkle-cut or waffle french fries
- 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- Ingredients for the Savory Cheeseburger Layer:
- 1 ½ lbs lean ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella or American cheese, shredded
- Ingredients for Burger Toppings & Drizzle:
- ⅓ cup dill pickle chips or relish, chopped
- ¼ cup special burger sauce (or ketchup + mayo twist)
- 2 tbsp fresh chives or green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Instructions:
- Bake Fries Ultra-Crispy: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss frozen fries with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Spread evenly across a large baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until deep golden and extra crisp. (Crispiness is key so they hold the toppings!)
- Brown Burger Meat: While fries bake, heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion, cooking 6–8 minutes while breaking meat into small crumbles. Stir in minced garlic during the last minute and drain excess fat.
- Season Beef: Stir ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and black pepper directly into the cooked beef. Simmer for 2 minutes until glossy and combined.
- Assemble Bake: Transfer crispy cooked fries into a 9×13-inch baking dish (or keep on the baking sheet). Layer the seasoned burger beef evenly over the top of the fries.
- Melt the Cheese: Cover generously with shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Return to oven at 400°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes until cheese is completely melted and bubbling.
- Top & Serve: Remove from oven and drizzle generously with special burger sauce. Scatter chopped pickles, green onions, and sesame seeds over top. Serve warm right out of the pan!
Notes
- Always drain the beef thoroughly to prevent soggy fries.
- For the crispiest foundation, spread fries in a single layer without overcrowding.
- Consider shredding your own cheese from blocks for superior melting.
