- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups sturdy tortilla chips
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sour cream, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add diced onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Lightly grease a baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
- Layer tortilla chips, followed by chili, then shredded cheese. Repeat, ending with cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes. Top with green onions and sour cream before serving.
Notes
- Use thick tortilla chips to prevent sogginess.
- Customize with corn, jalapeños, or extra beans.
- Reheat in the oven for best texture.
