- 1/2 cup plum jam or preserves

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Press your thumb gently into the center of each ball to create a small well.
- Fill each well with a small amount of plum jam.
- Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve.
