Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Flour
- 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter (cold)
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1 1/2 cups Fresh Strawberries (sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease your baking tray or line it with parchment paper.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add the cold butter and cut it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Stir to combine into a soft dough.
- Assemble the Dish: Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface and use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to cut out small rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared baking tray.
- Cook to Perfection: Bake the shortcake rounds for 12–15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Finishing Touches: While the shortcakes cool, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once the shortcakes have cooled, slice them in half and layer with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a bit of vanilla extract or lemon zest to the whipped cream.
