Description

Light and fluffy stovetop popcorn made with simple ingredients and ready in minutes. Crisp, warm, and perfectly seasoned for movie nights or everyday snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place a large heavy bottomed pot over medium heat. Add oil and 2 or 3 popcorn kernels. Cover with a lid.
  2. When the test kernels pop, remove them and add the remaining popcorn kernels in an even layer. Cover the pot.
  3. Gently shake the pot back and forth over the burner to keep kernels moving.
  4. Continue shaking occasionally as popping increases. Keep the lid slightly ajar to release steam.
  5. When popping slows to about 2 seconds between pops, remove the pot from heat.
  6. Carefully remove the lid and drizzle with melted butter if using.
  7. Sprinkle with salt and toss gently to coat evenly.
  8. Transfer to a large bowl and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a heavy bottomed pot to prevent burning.
  • Shake the pot during popping for even heat distribution.
  • Store cooled popcorn in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
