Description
A hearty Malaysian-inspired sandwich made with a toasted baguette filled with savory ground beef, eggs, onions, warm spices, and finished with gooey melted mozzarella cheese. Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside, and perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large baguette, about 12 inches
- 250 grams ground beef
- 3 large eggs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs with salt, black pepper, and curry powder. Set aside.
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Sauté the chopped onion and garlic until soft and fragrant. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned. Remove from heat and mix the cooked beef into the egg mixture.
- Slice the baguette lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Spread the meat and egg mixture evenly inside the bread. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella generously over the top.
- Add the remaining butter to the skillet and place the filled baguette cut side down. Cook on medium heat until the bottom is golden and the egg sets. Carefully flip to lightly toast the other side and fully melt the cheese.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for 1 minute before slicing.
- Slice into portions and serve warm.
Notes
- Cook on medium heat to prevent burning before the filling sets.
- Do not overfill the bread to avoid spillage while flipping.
- Use a serrated knife for clean slices.
- The meat mixture can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
