- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup red wine
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix sugar, egg, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the red wine.
- Combine wet and dry mixtures, folding gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan, tap gently to remove bubbles, and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar once cooled.
- Slice and serve as-is or with whipped cream, berries, or ganache.
