  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 to 5 whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • Zest from 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. Sterilize a glass jar by washing it in hot water and letting it air dry.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, cinnamon stick, cloves, peppercorns, and lemon zest.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring until sugar and salt dissolve completely.
  4. Remove from heat and let the brine cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Arrange pear slices neatly in the sterilized jar.
  6. Pour the slightly cooled brine over the pears, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  7. Seal the jar and let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour, then refrigerate.
