Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 3 large eggs (2 for brownie, 1 for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup light or dark corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, corn syrup, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and melted butter. Stir in chopped pecans.
  6. Gently spoon the pecan mixture over the brownie batter, spreading evenly.
  7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until topping is golden and center is just set.
