Description

Bright and refreshing orange sherbet made with fresh orange juice, a touch of cream, and balanced citrus flavor. Smooth, creamy, and perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh orange juice (about 4 to 6 oranges)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Ensure your ice cream maker bowl is fully frozen and ready to use.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together fresh orange juice, orange zest, granulated sugar, whole milk, heavy cream, fresh lemon juice, and salt until the sugar fully dissolves.
  3. Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream maker.
  5. Churn according to the manufacturer instructions, about 20 to 25 minutes, until it reaches a soft serve consistency.
  6. Transfer the sherbet to a freezer safe container.
  7. Freeze for 2 to 3 hours until firm.
  8. Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping and serving.

Notes

  • For smoother texture, strain the orange juice before mixing.
  • Do not skip chilling before churning for best consistency.
  • Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before freezing to reduce ice crystals.
