- 2 large yellow onions, sliced into 1/2 inch thick rings
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup milk
- About 3 cups vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Add egg and milk to the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
- Separate onion slices into rings.
- Dip each ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Fry in batches for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on a wire rack. Sprinkle lightly with salt and serve immediately.

- Maintain oil temperature for even frying.
- Do not overcrowd the pan.
