Description

Crispy golden onion rings made with a light seasoned batter and fried to perfection. A classic snack or side dish that is crunchy outside and tender inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large yellow onions, sliced into 1/2 inch thick rings
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • About 3 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  3. Add egg and milk to the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.
  4. Separate onion slices into rings.
  5. Dip each ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
