Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples, about 600 grams, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (70 grams)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour (95 grams)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats (45 grams)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (70 grams)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (113 grams), cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 C, 350 F.
- In a mixing bowl, toss diced apples with granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
- Lightly grease 4 small ramekins and divide the apple mixture evenly among them.
- In another bowl, combine all purpose flour, rolled oats, and brown sugar. Rub in the cold cubed butter using your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples in each ramekin.
- Place ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for deeper flavor.
- Keep butter cold for the best crumb texture.
- If apples are very juicy, add 1 teaspoon flour to the filling to help thicken.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
