Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in olive oil and salt, then gradually add all purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each into a smooth round ball.
  7. Place dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, cover, and let rise briefly.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  9. Cool slightly, then cut a circle from the top and hollow out the center to form bowls.
  10. Fill with warm soup and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Let the dough rise fully for the best texture.
  • Do not add too much flour, slightly sticky dough gives softer bread.
  • Serve immediately after filling to prevent sogginess.
