Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (480 grams) bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons (25 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 milliliters) warm water
  • 1 cup (150 grams) fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar for boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl. Add warm water and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth. Gently fold in blueberries.
  3. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add 1 tablespoon sugar.
  4. Divide dough into 8 pieces, shape into balls, and form rings by poking a hole in the center and stretching gently.
  5. Boil each bagel for 1 minute per side. Transfer to baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use frozen blueberries straight from the freezer if needed.
  • Do not skip boiling for the best chewy texture.
  • Bagels freeze well when sliced and stored airtight.
