Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon flavor extract
  • A few drops food coloring

Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lightly greasing it and set it aside.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Stir gently until combined.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and attach a candy thermometer to the side.
  4. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F, the hard crack stage.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the flavor extract and food coloring.
  6. Immediately pour the hot syrup onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Let the candy cool completely, then break into pieces and serve.
