Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces Guava Paste, sliced into small rectangles
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • Sugar (optional), for sprinkling

Instructions

  2. Slice the guava paste and cream cheese into small rectangles.
  3. Lay one puff pastry sheet flat on the baking sheet.
  4. Evenly space the guava and cream cheese over the pastry, leaving room between each.
  5. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top. Cut into squares and seal edges with a fork.

Notes

  • For a glossy finish, don’t skip the egg wash.
  • Use a ruler for neat, evenly sized squares.
  • Let filling cool slightly to avoid burns when eating.
  • Freeze unbaked pastelitos for up to 2 months and bake straight from frozen.
