Flaky, golden Guava Pastelitos filled with sweet guava paste and creamy cheese, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

- 2 sheets Puff Pastry, thawed
- 8 ounces Guava Paste, sliced into small rectangles
- 4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 large Egg, beaten
- Sugar (optional), for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the guava paste and cream cheese into small rectangles.
- Lay one puff pastry sheet flat on the baking sheet.
- Evenly space the guava and cream cheese over the pastry, leaving room between each.
- Place the second puff pastry sheet on top. Cut into squares and seal edges with a fork.
- Brush each square with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Optional: dust with powdered sugar.

- For a glossy finish, don’t skip the egg wash.
- Use a ruler for neat, evenly sized squares.
- Let filling cool slightly to avoid burns when eating.
- Freeze unbaked pastelitos for up to 2 months and bake straight from frozen.
