Description

A savory, satisfying side dish of crisp-tender green beans sautéed with smoky, golden bacon and a hint of garlic. Perfect for family dinners or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, ends trimmed
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch green beans for 3–4 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 6–8 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and garlic to the bacon drippings. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the blanched green beans and stir to coat. Sauté for 5–6 minutes, until tender and slightly browned.
  5. Return the bacon to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

  • Blanching the green beans helps keep their bright color and crisp texture.
  • Use thick-cut bacon for the best flavor and texture contrast.
  • A splash of vinegar or lemon juice can add brightness to the final dish.
  • Leftovers can be added to pasta or a breakfast hash.
