Description
A savory, satisfying side dish of crisp-tender green beans sautéed with smoky, golden bacon and a hint of garlic. Perfect for family dinners or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh green beans, ends trimmed
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch green beans for 3–4 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 6–8 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil and garlic to the bacon drippings. Sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the blanched green beans and stir to coat. Sauté for 5–6 minutes, until tender and slightly browned.
- Return the bacon to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Blanching the green beans helps keep their bright color and crisp texture.
- Use thick-cut bacon for the best flavor and texture contrast.
- A splash of vinegar or lemon juice can add brightness to the final dish.
- Leftovers can be added to pasta or a breakfast hash.
