- 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 6 oz goat cheese (room temperature)
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Optional: 1 tsp lemon zest or chili flakes
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional garnish: extra thyme or sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Add warm water and olive oil. Stir and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled.
- Mix goat cheese, thyme, garlic, and optional ingredients in a small bowl.
- Roll risen dough into a rectangle (approx. 10×16 in). Spread cheese mixture evenly.
- Roll into a log, slice lengthwise, and twist halves together. Form into a wreath on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Let rise again for 20–30 minutes while oven preheats to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with herbs or seeds, and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use parchment for easier cleanup and shaping.
- Dry your hands and surface when shaping the dough to avoid sticking.
- You can refrigerate dough after first rise and use the next day.
