This Easy Beef Picadillo is a one-pan Latin-inspired dish bursting with flavor from ground beef, tomatoes, olives, and a hint of sweetness from raisins. It’s comforting, quick, and perfect for weeknights.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1/2 cup sliced green olives
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add olive oil and sauté diced onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Push onions aside, add ground beef, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Stir in cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Fold in raisins and olives. Simmer on low for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning. Add broth or water if needed for consistency.
- Serve hot over rice, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired.
Notes
- Soak raisins in warm water beforehand for plumper texture.
- Use lean beef to avoid excess grease.
- Make it spicy by adding jalapeños or red chili flakes.
