- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Plug in and prepare your Instant Pot.
- Add grits, water, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir gently.
- Secure lid, set valve to sealing, and select ‘Porridge’ or cook on Manual/High for 10 minutes.
- Allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then quick release remaining pressure.
- Open lid and stir well. Add butter, cream, and cheese if using. Mix until creamy.
- Adjust seasoning to taste. Add extra milk or butter if needed.
- Serve warm with toppings of your choice.

- Use stone-ground grits for the best texture and flavor.
