Description

A comforting baked pasta layered with tender ziti, creamy cottage cheese, rich marinara, and melted mozzarella, baked until golden and bubbly.


Ingredients

  • 450 grams ziti pasta
  • 2 cups full fat cottage cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper until combined.
  3. Boil salted water and cook ziti 1 to 2 minutes less than package directions. Drain well.
  4. Mix cooked pasta with marinara sauce and minced garlic. Spread half into baking dish. Add cottage cheese mixture evenly. Top with remaining pasta. Sprinkle mozzarella and remaining Parmesan on top.
  5. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly golden.
  6. Rest for 10 minutes, sprinkle with fresh parsley, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Undercook pasta slightly so it finishes cooking in the oven.
  • Let the dish rest before slicing for cleaner portions.
