Description
A warm and comforting deli-style sandwich made with toasted rye bread, tender corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, and a tangy layer of mustard. Crispy on the outside and rich and savory inside, this classic sandwich is quick to prepare and deeply satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices rye bread
- 225 grams corned beef, thinly sliced
- 4 slices Swiss cheese (about 80 grams total)
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat until evenly warmed.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of mustard evenly on two slices of rye bread.
- Layer each with approximately 112 grams of thinly sliced corned beef and 2 slices of Swiss cheese.
- Spread softened butter on the outer sides of all four bread slices.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered sides facing outward, to form two sandwiches.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Cook over medium heat to prevent burning before the cheese melts.
- Let the sandwich rest briefly before slicing to keep the layers intact.
- For extra crispiness, press gently with a spatula while cooking.
