- 500g ground beef
- 1 small yellow onion, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thick chips
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your frying pan over medium heat with olive oil and heat vegetable oil in another pan for frying chips.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, grated onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, olive oil, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Shape into thick oval patties and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Peel and cut potatoes into thick chips, soak in water for 10 minutes, then pat dry.
- Fry chips until golden and crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
- Cook biftekia for 5–6 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.
- Sprinkle chips with salt and add lemon juice over biftekia before serving.
- Plate and serve with optional tzatziki or salad.
Notes
- Let meat mixture rest before shaping for deeper flavor.
- Soak and dry potatoes well before frying for best crisp.
- Use cast iron for perfect sear on patties.
- Chill shaped patties to help them hold together.
