Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix eggs, whole milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients and mix until just blended.
- Pour batter into prepared baking dish and smooth the top evenly.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly across the surface.
- In a bowl, mix brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and heavy cream until smooth, then pour evenly over the warm cake allowing it to soak into the holes.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 2 tablespoons milk until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the cream cheese glaze evenly over the slightly cooled cake, slice, and serve.
Notes
- Poke holes while the cake is warm so the cinnamon mixture absorbs fully.
- Allow the glaze to set slightly before slicing for clean pieces.
- Store covered in the refrigerator for up to four days.
