- 400 g chocolate sponge cake, cut into cubes
- 3 cups chocolate pudding, prepared and chilled
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 100 g chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Chill a mixing bowl and whisk in the refrigerator for a few minutes to help the cream whip properly.
- In the chilled bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Prepare a clean, dry, clear trifle bowl or glass serving bowl.
- Add a layer of chocolate sponge cake cubes to the bottom of the bowl.
- Spoon a layer of chocolate pudding evenly over the cake.
- Spread a layer of whipped cream gently over the pudding.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle chocolate shavings evenly over the final layer.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the layers to set.
Notes
- For cleaner layers, chill the trifle briefly between layering steps.
- Do not overwhip the cream, as it should stay light and smooth.
- The trifle can be made up to 24 hours in advance for best flavor.
