- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 6 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- Zest from 2 large oranges
- 4 large oranges, halved and hollowed
Instructions
- Sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water in a small bowl and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, and orange zest.
- Warm the mixture over medium low heat until hot but not boiling, stirring gently.
- Remove from heat and whisk in the bloomed gelatin until fully dissolved.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Carefully pour the mixture into the prepared orange cups.
- Place in the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours until set.
- Serve chilled directly in the orange cups.
Notes
- Do not let the cream mixture boil to keep the texture silky.
- Taste before chilling and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Keep orange cups upright while chilling for an even set.
