Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold cubed butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Add the milk and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1 inch thick round.
  7. Cut into small rounds using a biscuit cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet slightly spaced apart.
