Ingredients
Scale
- 500 grams ground pork
- 1 medium carrot, finely minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 150 grams cheddar cheese, cut into thin strips
- 20 pieces spring roll wrappers
- 2 cups cooking oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat the cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches about 170 degrees Celsius.
- In a large bowl, combine ground pork, carrot, onion, garlic, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and egg. Mix until well combined and slightly sticky.
- Lay a spring roll wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of filling near one edge and add a strip of cheddar cheese in the center.
- Roll tightly, folding in the sides, and seal the edge with a small amount of water.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the rolls in batches for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally for even browning.
- Remove from oil and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
- Do not overfill the wrappers to prevent bursting during frying.
- Keep unused wrappers covered with a damp cloth to avoid drying out.
- You can freeze uncooked rolls and fry directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 8 to 10 minutes to restore crispness.
