Description
Rich, fudgy chocolate brownies topped with a warm, silky butterscotch sauce made from brown sugar, butter, and cream. A comforting dessert that blends deep cocoa flavor with buttery caramel sweetness in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup brown sugar (for sauce)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (for sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
- Gently fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- While brownies cool, combine heavy cream, brown sugar, and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until sugar dissolves and sauce thickens slightly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Slice brownies into 12 squares and drizzle warm butterscotch sauce over the top before serving.
Notes
- Allow brownies to cool before slicing for clean edges.
- Warm the sauce gently if it thickens before serving.
- Store sauce separately and refrigerate up to 4 days.
- Brownies can be frozen without sauce for up to 2 months.
