Description

A quick and flavorful beef and broccoli stir fry made with tender sliced flank steak, crisp broccoli florets, and a glossy savory sauce. Better than takeout and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce, divided
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium high heat until hot.
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
  4. Add olive oil to the hot skillet.
  5. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir fry for about 3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce.
  8. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef and broccoli.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve hot.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Keep the heat high to achieve a proper sear on the beef.
  • If you prefer extra sauce, double the sauce ingredients.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
