Description
A quick and flavorful beef and broccoli stir fry made with tender sliced flank steak, crisp broccoli florets, and a glossy savory sauce. Better than takeout and ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup soy sauce, divided
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium high heat until hot.
- In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons soy sauce and cornstarch until evenly coated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
- Add olive oil to the hot skillet.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir fry for about 3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce.
- Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and evenly coats the beef and broccoli.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve hot.
Notes
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Keep the heat high to achieve a proper sear on the beef.
- If you prefer extra sauce, double the sauce ingredients.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
