Description
A warm, comforting dessert with soft apples baked into a moist, pudding-like cake, perfect for cozy nights or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples gently.
- Pour batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top.
- Optionally, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Let the cake rest for 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a nice balance of sweetness and tang.
- Don’t overmix the batter to keep the cake light.
- Letting it rest after baking helps it set better for slicing.
